1. Make sure that you have installed Windows Easy Transfer on both the computers. You need not worry, if you have Windows 7 as this utility is already installed in it. 2. Restart and boot both the system after the installation process and the start the Windows Easy Transfer utility by clicking on it.
3. You have to connect a USB flash drive or an external hard drive to your old computer and then click on “start” button.
4. Type in “Windows Easy Transfer” in the search field after clicking on the “start” button and then press “enter”.
5. You will come across a heading that will read “What do you want to use to transfer items to your new computer?” select the “external hard disk or USB flash drive” option from the list.
6. Now mention by clicking “This is my old computer” and then Windows Easy Transfer will start scanning the files that can be transferred.
7. You need to uncheck the boxes of the User account whose email files and settings you don’t want to transfer.
8. You may give a password that will be used to unlock the files that are to be transferred to the new computer and then click “save”. This is an optional feature which you may avoid and directly click on “Save”.
9. Make a choice of the hard disk or the USB flash drive and then click “open”.
10 When the Windows Easy Transfer gives you the notification that the files and settings are saved click on “Next”
11. Attach the USB flash drive or external hard disk to the new computer after detaching it from the old computer and click on “start”.
12. Do the same here and type “Windows Easy Transfer” in the search field and then press enter.
13. After selecting “An external hard disk or USB flash drive” from the list generated under the heading “What do you want to use to transfer items to your new computer?”
14. Select “This is my new computer” and then make sure to click “Yes” under the header “Has Windows Easy Transfer already saved items from your old computer to an external hard disk or USB flash drive?”
15. A new window will pop open and then select the hard disk or USB flash drive from the list and click “open”. The utility will locate the files that are to be transferred and then confirm the transfer process by clicking on “OK”.
