Those in the business of private tuition are always very busy in the lead-up to major exams, but extra assistance with test preparation is actually only a small part of the service they offer. While a little help before a big exam can go a long way towards ensuring a good result, those students who get the most value out of tuition are those that make a long term commitment.

Leaving exam preparation to the last minute makes the burden greater on both the student and the tutor- all too often, personal tutors are faced with the task of cramming months of material into the last few weeks before a big exam. While the student stands a much better chance of taking in the important points with expert help the approach is far from perfect. In an ideal situation, the student approaches the exam confident that they have covered all the necessary groundwork and safe in the knowledge that they've completed plenty of practice questions. With a term of effective work behind there is no need for a last minute panic.

Personal tutors can help students get ahead and stay ahead right from the first day of term. Where possible, covering each topic as it comes up in class is a much more effective way of ensuring that a pupil gets the most out of their education both at home and at school. This is doubly important in subjects like maths, where not having a solid foundation makes it difficult to grasp subsequent lessons. A student that struggles to understand one module will almost certainly have even more difficulty with the next. Long term tuition means that the student will have the tools that are required in each class, and will get more value from every school day.
It's also worth remembering that private tuition can improve marks across the board, not just in final exams. Coursework does count and it shouldn't be allowed to slide.
